Legal
Terms of use
Effective October 8, 2026
Most important: drive first. Use RoadNotes only when it's safe and legal, and never look at or handle your iPhone while driving.
1. These terms
RoadNotes is made by Amit Nadir ("we", "us"). By downloading or using RoadNotes you agree to these terms. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two differ, these terms add to it for RoadNotes.
2. Safe use while driving
- RoadNotes is designed to need as little attention as possible: one tap to start, your voice, and spoken confirmations. It is still your responsibility to drive safely.
- Only interact with RoadNotes, CarPlay or your iPhone when it is safe and allowed by the laws where you are driving. Where possible, use Siri or set things up before you start driving.
- We are not responsible for accidents, fines or other consequences of using the app while driving.
3. Free trial and the lifetime unlock
- RoadNotes is free for 10 days, starting the first time you open it. No payment details are needed for the trial.
- After the trial, recording new notes requires a one-time in-app purchase (the "lifetime unlock"). Your existing notes stay readable, playable and shareable either way.
- The purchase is processed by Apple and tied to your Apple Account. You can restore it on other devices with "Restore purchase" in Settings. Nothing is charged automatically and there is no subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- "Lifetime" means for as long as we offer RoadNotes and it runs on your device's version of iOS.
4. Your notes
- Your recordings and notes belong to you. They are stored on your iPhone; see the privacy policy.
- Because we don't store your notes, we can't recover them. Keep your iPhone backed up if your notes matter to you.
- Only record people who have agreed to be recorded, as the law where you are may require.
5. Transcripts and summaries can be wrong
Speech recognition and AI summaries are automatic and can misspell, miss or misunderstand words, especially with road noise. Check anything important against the full transcript before relying on it.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use RoadNotes to break the law, and don't attempt to copy, reverse engineer or resell the app except as allowed by law or Apple's license.
7. No warranty
RoadNotes is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for lost notes or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to RoadNotes is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the same law, and disputes go to the same courts, as Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement sets out for the country you live in. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your country that can't be waived by contract.
10. Changes
We may update these terms as the app changes. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date. Continuing to use RoadNotes after a change means you accept it.
